"Helping People Talk to People"
Over eighteen years ago we began working with conflict. It came in the form of neighbors fighting with neighbors over how they would live next to each other. This type of conflict often began around landscaping issues, barking dogs, noisy kids, how cars were parked; but quickly we discovered there was always more to the story.
Within a few months we were asked to provide conflict resolution for a successful business impacting their neighborhood. The room was packed with over 125 people, we helped them identify their issues and concerns, pick collaborative representatives, mediate with the business and reach an agreement in six weeks.
Over the years we've grown. We provide conflict resolution, mediation, facilitation, training and much more for municipalities, nonprofits, state agencies and private companies. CMC is committed to "Helping People Talk to People" in ways that encourage conversations; a willingness to listen, understand and reach a cooperative resolution.

Conflict is Inevitable!
Conflict comes in many different shapes and sizes, but one thing is constant - conflict brings change! We have a choice in how we deal with conflict, positively or negatively. A commitment to constructive conflict resolution will often create positive outcomes. However, failure to deal with conflict in a constructive way damages individuals, organizations and relationships. Unresolved conflict often escalates into avoidance, confrontation or violence - all negatively impacting everyone involved. Constructive Conflict? Hard to believe, but true - Better ideas are produced when we're pushed out of our comfort zone and required to think of collaborative solutions. We're forced to look for new approaches. We get asked to think about and clarify our positions and what is really important to us. Tension and conflict, property handled, stimulate interest and activity. Effective. Providing positive and lasting solutions because the people involved and affected by the conflict are those who create and agree upon the resolution. They care, because the conflict is directly impacting their lives. They are committed to the resolution they worked so hard to find. We currently provide mediation services for:
- Aurora Police Department - Boulder County Sheriff Department - Centura Health - Colorado State Departments - Colorado Springs Police Department - Commerce City Municipal Court - Denver's Independent Monitor - City and County of Denver - City of Thornton Municipal Court - Numerous individuals, attorneys working with their clients, HOA's, etc. |
Objective. Our mediators don't take sides, advocate for the other person, make decisions for either of you or represent any of the people at the table. We're the objective, neutral, nonprofit, third party you call when you're caught in conflict.
Confidential. All those involved agree to a level of confidentiality required to create the "safe place" so necessary for working from positions to issues and finding options leading to lasting outcomes. Voluntary. You're there because you choose to be. It is the best alternative! Efficient. We help you save time, money and energy working directly together to find your own solutions that work for you. Beneficial. We'll help you stay focused on problem solving, expectations, communication and what it takes to resolve the conflict. (just in case you need more reasons to mediate!) Professional. CMC's mediators are professional. They are trained, mentored and meet regularly to maintain excellence in all they do. They're good! Download and read CMC's brochure

Why Mediation Is So Important!
Boulder and a squirrel - How many lives were changed in a negative way because they didn't figure out how to talk or contact a mediator!
Oregon and barking dogs - barking dogs can drive people to all kind of responses, but really . . ? (The ones that suffer are the dogs.)
