We Also Mediate

Workplace Conflicts

  • You spend more time with your work-mates than most anyone in your life. Why is it that our workplace is often the source of major conflict?
  • We mediate the big things and the small, annoying actions. We mediate civility, accountability, work product expectations, all the things that often contribute to conflict.
  • We mediate between workplace peers, supervisors and those they supervise.
  • We mediate a couple people, we mediate teams that must rely upon each other, but aren’t doing a very good job of getting it don’t.
  • We are able to mediate within the context of the confidentiality statute here in Colorado and talk about all the issues and concerns that really need to be discussed.
  • We don’t do magic, but is might see that way. We help people be honest, engaged and respectful. We help them talk about what isn’t working, and how they got to this unproductive place. We help them sort issues, identify options and reach constructive agreements.
  • The cost of unresolved conflict in the work place, the cost to productivity, disengaged employees and lost leadership is astounding. Maybe it is time to address it and create a better work place. Give us a call and we’ll talk. [303-717-4151]

Police Complaint mediations –

  • How many times have to and a police encounter and wished you could just explain yourself to the officer. There isn’t time, they aren’t prepared to listen, maybe you’re not even sure what you’d say, or say it correctly.
  • We’ve been facilitating conversations between civilians and police for over fifteen years with great results. Take a look at our PoliceMediation.org website for more information, check out our brochure, or call Sara at 303-651-6534.

Good Neighbor Agreements –

  • To avoid conflict in the future, many businesses and neighborhoods are working together to develop expectations that ensure a respectful and cooperative relationship.
  • Our experience shows that too often these are difficult conversations when attempted on your own. We have experience facilitating these conversations, helping neighbor identify their issues and concerns in a relevant and succinct way. We also work with the business to consider ways to address these concerns, and what expectations they would like to have of the neighborhood.
  • This all gets written up in a GNA, the parties sign and a constructive relationship is created.

Municipal Courts –

  • It is our experience that the courts often deal with parties who;
    • Have an ongoing relationships and need strategies to avoid reoccurring conflict,
    • Need to talk with each other, listen and understand the other’s perspective,
    • Work together to create solutions that work for everyone involved, and
    • Can’t do this without the help of a third party, a mediator.
  • Benefits to Municipal Court mediation
    • lasting solutions are reached, lessening recidivism, as the parties are more likely to adhere to the agreements they participate in creating,
    • Mediated solutions reduce calls to police and other city agencies,
    • The parties involved identify and discuss the reasons they reached this conflict and ways to avoid an event like this in the future,
    • Mediation can be scheduled in a week to ten days and generally takes 60-90 minutes,
    • A Memorandum of Understanding, with specific points, is reached and can be shared with the court, often resulting in a dismissal of the case, and
    • Cost of mediation are considerably less than the traditional court process, (and are sometimes even paid for by the court).

Barking Dogs! –

  • Amazing how much impact on your quality of life a barking dog can have, whether you’re the owner or a close-by neighbor. We receive over 200 barking dog referrals to mediation each year. They are often the primary point of contention, but not the only one. The good news is that we’re able to successfully resolve 60%-75% of these barking dog situations.
    • The frightening thing is that every year we’ve all read about neighbors, both the dog owner and the one complaining, have taken matters into their own hands and the results were tragic. Don’t let it happen. Mediate!
