House 1,000 & Good Neighbor Agreements

A Good Neighbor Agreement is an opportunity for neighbors and businesses, such as a restaurant, and in this case micro-communities, transitional housing units, or other forms of temporary housing, to come together and discuss requirements and expectations for how these facilities will be integrated into neighborhoods in a positive manner.

Good Neighbor Agreements provide both a set of expectations and an ongoing communication process, ensuring that all involved are heard; and any issues and concerns addressed in a constructive and timely manner. While the expectations do clearly define the roles, accountability, and responsibilities, a GNA is not an enforcement document, but rather a means of making certain those involved have the opportunity and are required to talk with each other about challenges, successes, issues and concerns; resolving them in a civil and more effective way.

As a result of the GNA, a Good Neighbor Committee is formed that will meet monthly. Representation on this GNC involves neighbors, service providers, city council, mayor’s office/HOST and the police. In this way ensuring robust, honest and ongoing communication, the best and most effective way to ensure lasting and long-term success.

This is a “working site” where we will post our DRAFT work as we go. Please remember that a GNA is not completed until it is signed. Everything is a “work in process” until it is completed. If you have questions, concerns or suggestions, please contact your representative or email the general email for the specific site. All GNA Team members will have a chance to review your email.
